I just set up this quick Anglo Irish war solo game to try to get my head around some rules. And I wanted to get at least one game in the Apartment before I moved to my new house.
Twelve IRA men, 1 Lewis gunner,2 officers with pistols, 1 SMGer, and 8 rifle men with 1 rifle grenade and a home made mine planted in the road, lay in wait for the Lancia armoured truck carrying 7 Auxies(only have 7 painted) 1 officer with pistol, 1 SMGer, and 5 rifle men with 2 hand grenades.
As the Lancia sped over the bridge the driver saw the wooden carts blocking the road, he decided to try and ram them with the heavy Lancia. As the lancia sped on the Lewis gun opened up on it with little effect also the IRAs rifle grenade was fired but missed the target hitting the bridge.
The Lancia hit the mine crippling it engine, as the Auxies bailed out a short but intense fire fight left 4 IRA rifle men and their Lewis gunner who was killed by a well aimed grenade, and all 7 Auxies dead by the road.
Think I made a few rule mistakes with this game, but as it was a solo game with non solo rules, I guess it don't matter much.
Nice looking game and set up- which rules did you use?
ReplyDeleteCheers,
Pete.
I used A World Aflame - Interwar Wargame Rules 1918-39 (Osprey Wargames) the rules are very basic and a little patchy and need some mod work
DeleteThanks- not picked those up yet. Was planning to use Two Hour Wargames Chain Reaction with a few mods, once I get my forces painted up.
