Cavalry?

I came across the photo below and was thinking about Cavalry in the Irish Civil war, I have done some research on the subject, the only info I could find in one of my books was that an Anti Treaty group of about 50 of their best riders was formed during the battle of Kilmallock, I can't find any mention of how they were deployed or if they saw any action, I would deploy them as Scouts and escorts for the improvised Armourd Cars. Also I cant find any mention of Free State Cavalry during the war I guess they did not use large units of horse, as I want to make my games as exciting as possible I have decided to include small cavalry units on both sides..
